Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is an ancient method of healing and relaxation that was discovered in Japan in the late 1800’s. The energy, which we now call Reiki, is the same energy that created this universe. The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words – Rei which means universal and Ki which means life force energy. So Reiki is actually “universal life force energy”.
Reiki is a technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. Because Reiki comes from the universal life force energy, it comes from the universe through the practitioner not from the practitioner. Most feel the flow of the energy as warm, tingly, pulsating, while some just fall asleep. Some people say they feel little during the session, but afterwards enjoy a feeling of calm and well-being. How ever you feel it, this energy will find its way to where it can do the most good in your body. It will relax you, remove stress and start the healing process. It works in conjunction with traditional medicine.
